What is a “Modern Day Parable”

If you’re familiar with the Bible, you know the word parable. Jesus often used everyday stories to reveal deep spiritual truths. Whether it was seeds, sheep, or a prodigal son, His teaching connected heaven’s wisdom to daily life. In a similar way, Modern Day Parable is my attempt to share encouragement, discipleship, and mentorship through stories and reflections that connect with real people, right where they are. “He did not say anything to them without using a parable.” (Mark 4:34, ESV)

My background in both people and project management trained me to think in processes and systems, but my mission here is much simpler: to motivate, encourage, and disciple in a way that’s accessible to anyone. If you’re looking for a seminary-level breakdown of hermeneutics, I might not be your guy. But if you’re wrestling with what Paul warned about in 1 Corinthians — knowing all mysteries but lacking love — then I’m here for you. “If I… understand all mysteries and all knowledge… but have not love, I am nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:2, ESV)

We all carry hurts. We all know division. And while the world says “laughter is the best medicine,” I know the true Healer. I’m not Jesus, nor do I claim His insight, but after prayer and conviction, I chose this name — Modern Day Parable — to shift the conversation. Some may bristle at it, but my intent is not to offend; it’s to refresh how we think about faith. Christianity should not be branded by judgment but by grace. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35, ESV)

The Western church is often known more for what we’re against than for the love of Jesus we’re called to display. That has to change. Before acting, we should ask: “Is what I’m about to do going to bring someone closer to Jesus, or push them further away?” I don’t pretend to have it all together — I’m a self-proclaimed “work in prog-mess” — but I believe the first step to growth is humility. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6, ESV)

At its core, Modern Day Parables exist to motivate, inspire, and shine light on what Jesus taught. My hope is simple: that these words spark encouragement and point you back to Him. “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, ESV)
