About Will McCafferty

The loquacious musings of a carmudgeon Scotsman in the USA.

Where do you begin with a story like this? Born in 1977 as a premature baby in the beautiful land of Scotland, Will’s very first breath was a testimony that God still performs miracles. His journey has been anything but ordinary — from being the most reluctant theological student and Bible teacher you’ll ever meet, to finding joy in serving quietly and faithfully in the background. “But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” (Matthew 19:30, ESV)

Will pursued education later in life with new purpose, graduating with Highest Honours from Colorado Technical University with an Associate’s degree in Business. To his surprise, he became a far better student in his forties than he ever was in high school. He believes this is the fruit of life lessons learned — being faithful in small things, persevering through challenges, and striving to be the best example possible as a father. “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much.” (Luke 16:10, ESV)

Along the way, he earned Six Sigma training, became a member of the Project Management Institute, Honor Societies such as Kappa Beta Delta and the National Society of Leadership and Success. He has excelled in leadership roles in both nonprofit organizations and Fortune 500 companies, as well as currently serving on the board of a local nonprofit. Yet the heartbeat of his work remains discipleship. This website is simply an extension of that calling. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19, ESV)

In his spare time, Will continues his studies toward a Double Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. He is also a stand-up comedian — so if you notice humour woven into his blogs, that’s intentional. Beyond writing and ministry, he enjoys pickleball, disc golf, bowling, and the creative discipline of storytelling. “A joyful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22, ESV)

Will is open about his testimony, including his divorce in 2019 and the painful estrangement from the church that followed. Those experiences could have left him bitter, but instead they became the soil where grace grew. His heart beats for the “in-between people” — those who have fallen through the cracks, wandered from faith, or are tentatively exploring what this strange “yellow brick road” of life might mean. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, ESV)

Ultimately, Will’s mission is not personal profit, gain, or recognition. His aim is to shine a light on the One he calls the Light of the World and be an example, a mentor or even a guide. If even one person comes to know Christ through his words, every effort will have been worth it. “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” (2 Corinthians 4:5, ESV)

Will resides in Clovis, California, and is available for speaking engagements upon request. He is currently in the process of publishing his first Christian Living book, with further details to be announced soon.“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23 (ESV)
