Modern Day Parables 28 – Don’t say the work – Go do the work…

Disclaimer – Apologies to Pastor Shawn as I “borrowed” the title from him for this one.

A few days ago, I was blessed to meet with a pastor who truly inspires me. He doesn’t just preach faith—he lives it. His ministry is about authentically serving, walking out the Great Commission every day, and making you want to roll up your sleeves and join in the work of helping people.

After His resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days preparing His disciples. Before ascending to heaven, He gave them a mission we now call The Great Commission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV)

This mission wasn’t just for pastors or church leaders—it’s for every believer.

Sometimes we think “going” means traveling overseas, but often it simply means walking across the street, stepping into your workplace with intentionality, or listening to a neighbor who needs hope.

Making disciples is about more than words. It’s showing others how Jesus has transformed your life and inviting them to discover Him for themselves.

Baptism then becomes the outward expression of this new life, a beautiful sign that someone has joined the family of God.

Take a moment today:

Reflect on the person God used to help you grow in your faith. Ask Him to place someone on your heart who you can encourage, guide, or walk alongside. Pray for courage to share the hope of Jesus with the people He’s placed in your path.

Because the Great Commission isn’t just their mission—it’s ours. And Jesus promises, “I am with you always.”
